张叔言,汉族,1949年12月生,湖南宁乡人,1970年1月加入中国共 产党,1967年1月参加工作,南京大学中文系、解放军政治学院、美国加州大学毕业,博士学位。

提到张叔言,许多人都知道他是出版人,但没有人知道他书法造诣。的确,张叔言退休前没操刀过书法,退休后,心想没事干该怎么办,这才想起学书法。然而,不到8年,张叔言的书法却稍有名气,曾代表国家赠书法给斯里兰卡总统、议长,韩国领导人,台湾地区领导人及俄罗斯、蒙古、塔吉克斯坦大使馆、孔子学院、华商总会、交流机构等,并被斯里兰卡佛学院、韬奋纪念馆、佛光山收藏,他还为许多名胜古迹、大型企事业单位、著名商标品牌题写牌匾。

2016年纪念中国共 产党成立95周年,全国集邮总公司为张叔言出版了一套书法邮票纪念册,文联出版社将张叔言的书法作品收集在《人民喜爱的书法家》《当代中国书法经典百年》《中华书画传承人物》中,红旗出版社将张叔言的书法作品收集在《中国书法40年》书法集中,2018年张叔言与欧阳中石先生出版了一本《艺坛领袖传世佳作》台历。

熟悉张叔言的人都知道,他是用毛笔写字的。张叔言从小学直到退休都坚持用毛笔写字,写日记、写文章甚至连开会记录有时都用毛笔,不过那只是写毛笔字而已,谈不上书法。但无心插柳柳成荫,这种书写方法对毛笔的把握、书法的感觉很有帮助,特别对草书的流利性要求更是打下了一个基础。

退休后,张叔言在与中国当代著名书画大家杨向阳的接触中感受到了书法的巨大魅力。“他的书法造诣和理论高度都让我十分钦佩,独创了融隶书风骨、魏碑气势、篆书神韵于一体的‘三体书’及草篆、行隶等近百种书体。当时我就临摹他的隶、楷、行书,受他的影响很深。”

从此,张叔言开始临摹历代书法名家的字帖,沉浸其中,忘乎所以,甚至不吃不喝8个小时,从晚饭后一直写到凌晨3点都丝毫不疲惫。

“毛 泽东的字、岳飞的书法自有其过人的气魄,而王羲之的字则透着文人雅士的精制笔法。”张叔言认为,历代书法名家多出自王侯将相、文史学家,这并非偶然或是虚名,书法境界高低是来自人生的经历和感悟。真正的书法家并非只会写字的匠人,他们需要有深厚国学底蕴和自我修养。
